Drafts and notes for three planned books are included: The British State, which was eventually published by Lawrence & Wishart in 1958; The State, which focussed on the thinking of Russian anarchist Peter Kropotkin; and an untitled work exploring the symbols of state power in Britain. Dona Torr's research notes & other materials for 'Tom Mann and His Times' (ii), 1890-1957
Dona Torr originally intended Tom Mann and His Times to be a two-volume biography of British labour activist Thomas Mann. Volume I was published in 1956, but Torr’s death in the following year meant that Volume II never appeared in print. This volume contains Torr’s research notes and background materials for the book.
