The British Commanders'-in-Chief Mission to the Soviet Forces in Germany (BRIXMIS) was a liaison initiative established in 1946. Although ostensibly a diplomatic endeavour, BRIXMIS presented an ideal opportunity for intelligence gathering behind the Iron Curtain, and was exploited as such.
