Pamphlets by Author, Making the Argument for Independence, 1847-1972

Collection: Scottish Nationalist Leaflets, 1844-1973    Volumes    Pamphlets by Author, Making the Argument for Independence, 1847-1972
In combination, these papers commence with the stated claim that Scotland has been subjugated under England, resulting in it being poorly governed into decline. They then argue that Parliament is unlikely to change this situation as it is too congested with laws to get many passed for Scotland and has a flawed representative system which yields too much control to the Party Whip. They then conclude that Scottish Home Rule is needed and is making substantial progress as a philosophy, while its return would also enable Scots to preserve their church and decide what their children should be taught. However, this combination of ideas necessarily excludes some of the nuance from the arguments which can be read here.
