E series of original missionary reports, 1901–1950
This volume contains an almost complete set of quarterly reports from the period. There was a widespread belief among missionaries that schools should help alleviate social ills, such as poverty, as well as declining church membership, in addition to providing education. Papers of the Barbados Committee, 1710–1842
The Barbados committee of the SPG was established in 1710 and its records run until 1842. It was headed by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, as well as the Bishop of London. It met frequently, at least once a month, and a sub-committee was set up by the mid-eighteenth century.
