Key Events in The Illustrated London News: Part Two Videos

To celebrate the launch of this extraordinary new collection, join our Editor, Nishah Malik, as she dives into the rich visual legacy of The Illustrated London News (ILN)—one of the most iconic publications in British history.

For over 150 years, through detailed illustrations and reporting, the ILN offered readers a visual account of political change, social developments, and international conflicts.

Following on from part one, where our Editor, Nishah Malik, explored how the ILN brought the nineteenth century to life, part two now turns to the events of the twentieth century.

In this video, Nishah explores a snippet of the ILN’s twentieth century coverage—from the end of Queen Victoria’s reign and the rise of the suffragette movement, to the global impact of two world wars and Britain’s shifting identity in a post-imperial world.

Visit the collection’s landing page to find out more about this collection.
