This month marks the third month in the Islamic calendar, Rabi ul-Awal. This month, which follows the month Safar, translates as “the first spring”, but due to the Islamic calendar being a lunar calendar it does not correspond to the seasonal spring. The month, which began on the 24 August following a new moon sighting, is a significant month for Muslims around the world.
This month is seen as more of a metaphorical spring of new beginnings for Muslims, as it is the birth month of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This day is celebrated on the 12th day of Rabi ul-Awal and is marked with the Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebration on the 12th day.
British Online Archives would like to wish all Muslims a blessed month and Eid Milad-Un-Nabi Mubarak to all.
