From 1 October 2025, we will be introducing a price increase for weekly and monthly single user licenses.
Since BOA’s inception in 2008, our single user license price has remained unchanged, and has been of excellent value to independent researchers seeking to gain temporary access to historical primary source digital materials. Over that time, we have worked hard to introduce a number of useful user tools and features, increase supportive material, provide document analysis guides, and offer contextual resources to enhance our collections. This includes work on improving overall website functionality, enhancing document-level discoverability, utilising OCR text and handwriting recognition software, and providing advanced search capabilities across the database.
Over the past few years, we have seen a rise in global inflation, changing market and economic conditions across academic and publishing sectors, and growing associated costs within the digitisation process, website management, and enhancement of online resources. As a result, we are now no longer able to absorb these costs at continued pricing levels for single licence subscription users. We are thus implementing our first price increase for individual subscribers to ensure collection and new resource access remains at a fair level.
From 1 October 2025, the cost for a 1-week single user license will be increased to £40. The cost for a 1-month single user license will be increased to £80. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@britishonlinearchives.com.
