Notes
The miraculous survival of the letter books of two prosperous 18th century London merchants are of great importance to scholars of slavery and the sugar trade in Barbados and Jamaica. This publication includes the transcripts made by Richard Pares, which distil the eleven volumes of papers destroyed in the Blitz, together with a comprehensive introduction (ISBN 1851170359) by Dr. S.D. Smith, University of York.
Also available on CD-ROM.
