Notes
William Davenport was a Liverpool merchant and British slave trader. From the late 1740s till the early 1790s, he invested regularly in the African slave trade and was a partner in slaving ventures with other leading merchant Liverpool families.
These papers from Keele University Library come with an introduction (ISBN: 1851170782) by Professor David Richardson, Hull University, and complements the collection entitled 'Records relating to the slave trade at the Liverpool Record Office', also published in the 'British records relating to America in microform' series.
Also available as an online resource (due for release spring 2009)
