Notes
Founded in 1955 by Professor Kenneth Onwuka Dike of the University of Ibadan, the Society, one of the earliest learned societies in Nigeria, played a crucial role in the genesis of African history, for and by Africans. One of the premier publications of the continent, this journal has proved itself to be a major forum for Nigerian history in particular and African issues in general. Unfortunately, problems of supply over the years have meant that holdings of the journal in the collections of even leading African Studies institutions are patchy and back issues are unavailable, even within Nigeria. Contents - Reel 1: 1956-1963; Reel 2: 1964-1969; Reel 3: 1969-1973; Reel 4: 1973-1976; Reel 5: 1977-1981
