Notes

All available years from July 1845 to date, excluding those periods when no editions were issued: 1849-1851, 1853-1882, and the Japanese occupation of Singapore between 1942 and 1945.
During the British colonial period, the original Straits Times covered news in both Malaya and Singapore, where the paper was published. This continued after independence in 1957 and 1959 respectively. The title was retained after August 1965 in Singapore, when it left the Federation of Malaysia, and the title 'New Straits Times' was given to the now separate English-language paper issued in Kuala Lumpur with a greater focus on Malaysian news.
The Straits Times, supplied on microfilm by Microform Academic Publishers under licence, is now the leading daily published by Singapore Press Holdings, covering both international and local news with columns on global finance markets, local social and personal events, details of shipping arrivals, etc.
