Notes
Mediterranean Passes were provided for English ships by the Admiralty for almost two centuries after the Restoration of Charles II in 1660, in order to give protection against attack from the Corsairs of the Barbary Coast. Although no copies of the Passes themselves appear to have survived, registers and indexes of them have, and this microfilm comprises volumes from the Admiralty, ADM/7 in the Public Record Office, London. Introduction by David Richardson, University of Hull.
