Notes
These Order Books cover the four divisions of the County of Suffolk based respectively on Bury St. Edmunds, Ipswich, Woodbridge and Beccles, served until 1888 by one Clerk of the Peace appointed under a single Commission of the Peace. The books contain all the administrative orders made by the courts sitting in each division covering a wide range of business from the organisation of the courts themselves to the supervision of the activities of parish authorities.
The later books include gaol calendars but, in general, the detailed records of process on recognicances and indicments are omitted.
From Ipswich and E. Suffolk Record Office.
