Notes
Covers 1812-1900. The National Society for Promoting the Education of the Poor in the Principles of the Established Church (Great Britain) was the most important of the nineteenth century voluntary school societies, many Anglican schools being associated with it at one time or another. Its annual reports are therefore of the greatest significance, containing a wealth of information including details of the running of its schools, the numbers of pupils attending, subjects taught and grant payments made. Fiche contents available online.
