The findings of a research unit, financed by the Nuffield Foundation and the Committee for Research and Development in Modern Languages, for the period 1963 to 1973. The major work of the Child Language Survey was to collection, transcribe and publish in limited editions, conversations (also some written materials) of English, French, German and Spanish school children. These transcripts have been published as a series of occasional papers, two of which have been devoted to describing the methods of colelction and transcription employed.
