Key Events in The Illustrated London News: Part One Videos

To celebrate the launch of this extraordinary new collection, join our Editor, Nishah Malik, as she dives into the rich visual legacy of The Illustrated London News (ILN) — one of the most iconic publications in British history.

For over 150 years, through detailed illustrations and reporting, the ILN offered readers a visual account of political change, social developments, and international conflicts.

In this video, Nishah explores a snippet of the ILN’s nineteenth century coverage — from harrowing scenes of the Irish Famine, to the spectacle of the Great Exhibition, and the battlefields of Crimea.

In part two, Nishah will take us through the twentieth century.

Visit the collection’s landing page to find out more about this collection.
