Collection: Colonial Law in Africa, 1808-1919 Volumes Uganda, 1908–1919This volume consists of gazettes published in Uganda between the years 1908 and 1919. It was only in 1908 that gazettes focused specifically on Uganda began to be published. Between 1892 and 1908 information regarding Uganda was contained in the Zanzibar gazettes. The gazettes in this volume include legal reports. They also detail colonial finances, imports, exports, as well as supplying historical weather recordings. The events covered by these gazettes include the Busoga famine of 1908 and the First World War. A patent record from 1919 also reveals that the swastika symbol was licensed to a soap merchant from Widnes, Lancashire.
