ZWN/10. These items cover the foundation of the 'Walt Whitman Birthplace Bulletin' and include memorobilia related to the opening of the Walt Whitman Bridge between Philadelphia and Gloucester in the United States. Correspondence with the Bolton Reference Library discusses how Minnie Whiteside was able to pass-on J.W. Wallace's correspondence; however, other letters, produced by Charles Sixsmith dispute whether Minnie Whiteside really deserves the credit for such gifts or if the credit for their preservation truly belongs to a Mrs Sprague. These items include comments from Anne M. Traubel on the plaque to be placed upon the painting of the Rivington lakes and advice from the chief librarian at Bolton Central Library encouraging the publication of another edition of "Harvest in the North". Other items include correspondence relating to Mr Paul Salveson's Whitman research alonside a 1993 request for a plaque to be displayed on the former site of the Eagle Street College. The correspondence includes researchers' requests that Bolton library supply them with details of portraits and letters in their collection, alongside over 50 other letters, notes, and postcards from individuals and libraries in England, the United States, Austria, Canada and New Zealand. This collection also contains many highly complimentary reactions to the reciept of the Whitman catalogue and similar reactions to the experience of using the library's services as well as a catalogue of 'Whitmania' in Bolton. Records of Bolton library's acquistion of Whitman-related books, and artifacts such as 'The Loving Cup' are included alongside complimentary reactions to the reciept of the Whitman collection catalogue from Bolton Library.
