Court papers from the Rex vs Pollitt libel case, which occurred over 11 days in November and December 1927. The trail was brought against Pollitt, Strudwick, and Beech, members of the National Minority Movement, by David Scott, a sailor who’d worked in the Soviet Union for three years before being imprisoned and deported. The defendants were alleged to have published libellous material trying to discredit Scott after he went public with his experience in the Soviet Union. The defendants were found guilty after 11 days and Pollitt was ordered to pay prosecution costs as well as £100.
